'Tis the Season to Seek Vengeance: Review Over the Different Batman Movies

By: Sador Dagim

Christmas is all about being merry, from the red and green lights to the families coming into town. Once we get all those family members sitting around in the living room, the temptation is to turn on the TV, but what to watch? Christmas movies are funny and original, but they're also starting to get old. Every Christmas is different and new, why not change it up this year and watch a Batman Movie instead?

In this review, I’ll be watching ten Batman movies and choosing the four that seem most suitable for the holidays. Let’s get started, or as Batman says: “I’m Batman.”

Batman the Lego Movie

The first Batman movie I’m reviewing is Batman the Lego Movie. This movie first came out on February 10th, 2017. This PG rated movie received a total of 90% on rotten tomatoes and was liked by at least 83% of the population. Personally, I loved watching this movie! I loved the amount of sarcasm in the movie. Everyone knows how dark and depressing Batman normally is, we can all get the hint from the catchphrase “The night is darkest just before the dawn.” From the amount of phrases he uses throughout the series, he doesn’t look like he was the brightest little kid in the class. This movie is enjoyable to watch with the whole family, with the right amount of laughter that can fill the room, and the good lessons little ones can take from the end.

Batman and Harley Quinn

The second Movie I’m reviewing is Batman and Harley Quinn. This 2017 special is rated PG-13 and I enjoyed this movie as well. This would be more suitable for 13+ group of boys on a Friday night sleepover during winter break, if they’re into action movies. This movie had Harley Quinn battling evil as one of the good guys, it showed how villains could maybe work with superheros. It was a little inappropriate and it’s not as jolly as it’s supposed to be, but it's always fun to watch with friends. I would give this movie a solid 7/10.

The Batman

The third Batman movie I’m reviewing is The Batman. This 2022 special starring Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravtiz is rated PG-13 and one of the best live action Batman films I’ve ever seen. This movie was not only appealing through action, but the romance was on point. The high tension between Catwoman and Batman was the best part of it all. The only problem was how long the movie was. It was about 3 hours long and the movie had already lost its spice around an hour in. Other than that it was a really good movie!

Batman: Hush

The final Batman movie I’ll be reviewing is Batman: Hush. I would definitely recommend this for couples looking for movies to watch on date night, if they have any interest in the Batman series. The story starts where Batman tries to find out who the mysterious villain is who uses the Joker and several of his other enemies and allies as tiles in a game to wreak havoc on Batman's life. I mostly liked this movie for the action and thriller it gave me, the movie has a little romance in it too which makes it more interesting to watch as well. The thrill of the battles made me want to watch it again. 10/10 for sure!

Want to switch up your holiday traditions this year? start watching different batman movies with your loved ones! it won't disappoint. With the thriller and action of these movies, Christmas will be spent with a lot of excitement. If it is the season to be jolly, why not make this year a season to seek vengeance?
