When I think of animal shelters I typically think of a safe haven for animals that have been abandoned, lost, neglected, abused, or simply just waiting on a new home. Promoting animal adoption, shelters help regulate overpopulation in stray animals. They also help in nursing hurt or traumatized animals back to health, and provide an environment where they can have a second chance at finding a family.
