A very Amber Marie Christmas: A review of your favorite boutique’s Holiday decor

By: Aubrey Hovenga

Welcome to Tulsa’s very own Amber Marie and Co. boutique at Christmas: known for its classic charm and holiday spirit, Amber Marie becomes a winter wonderland each December. This review features the most iconic pieces of the boutique's festivities coming from, if I do say so myself, one of their most consistent customers. Located at the corner of 91st and Yale, the boutique, to some, is a hidden gem. Be prepared to take a deep dive into all of this season's holiday decor, gift ideas, and designer items found at Amber Marie.

One of my favorite things to look at is the different Christmas decor themes. Here are the genres that are taking the 2025 Christmas season by storm:

Checker board decor displayed in multiple areas throughout the store.

The most notable, literally everywhere throughout the store, was checkerboard Christmas. Inspired by the iconic pattern that designer MacKenzie Childs is known for, this pattern has skyrocketed this 2025 season and is, in my opinion, the biggest trend yet. The MacKenzie-Childs signature checker print is a major driver of 2025 holiday decor trends, establishing a look that is both bold and versatile. The classic checker pattern that we know and love and its variants serve as a new staple for so many things, like the iconic tea kettles and serving platters, to tree ornaments and textile accents. You can literally put it on everything. While looking at this display, I asked a store associate to explain the appeal to designer decor consumers. While it’s a huge trend, the hand-painted quality adds to the demand, moving this decor away from mass-produced uniformity that we get everywhere else.

The next theme I observed was Red and Blue Christmas with porcelain China prints. The current popularity of the red and blue theme, coupled with Chinese prints (specifically Chinoiserie), which I discovered after doing some research, was significant in the boutique. It looks sophisticated, elegant, and feels both traditional and globally curated. The inclusion of vibrant red accents, vervet, ribbon, ornaments, and the iconic Chinoiserie Christmas trees made this theme stand out for the season and was excellently displayed.

Also, amidst all of the holiday decor, the Christmas clothing line at Amber Marie Tulsa is a great extension of the boutique's Christmas aesthetic.

The first display you see when walking into Amber Marie's clothing department.

The line heavily features bold statement pieces with glitter, bright colors, and cute seasonal motifs, often showcasing items from highly sought-after brands like ‘Queen of Sparkles.’ I personally loved seeing all of the sequined holiday sweatshirts and tons of icons like Santa, nutcrackers, ornaments, and mahjong tiles. I’m not a huge fan of button-up cardigans, but their inventory made me almost change my mind.

The next theme I saw was primarily gold and glittery. This theme is definitely a classic, as we see it in Amber’s Christmas line every year.

The classic gold Themed Christmas decor.

The gold glittery Christmas theme at Amber Marie Tulsa showcases an aesthetic of pure holiday glamour and sparkle each year. This display uses gold as the primary color, which appeals to the recurring customer because it's a staple at the boutique each year. The glitter is not just an accent but a core element, coating decorative Gold Glitter Trees, elaborate sprays and stems, ornaments like jeweled rhinestone wreaths and stars, and large figurines such as golden grosses and antique-style nutcrackers. Another element was various layered textures from metallic gold sprays and glass ornaments to the shimmer of gold dust on ribbons. The boutique ensures that the monochromatic theme remains a staple, and it wouldn’t feel like Christmas without it.

The next display I visited–my favorite display–was the holiday jewelry stand. I absolutely love seeing the brand Kendra Scott at Amber Marie, and could spend hours looking through their inventory

The Kendra Scott Christmas display at Amber Marie.

Stepping into the section dedicated to Kendra Scott at Amber Marie Tulsa is like an automatic time-suck. I always gravitate toward their display because it offers jewelry that is very trendy and in high demand. I love seeing the familiar gem shapes—those iconic Elisa pendants and Ellie studs—are my favorites to look for. This year's inventory was classic; it stayed true to the classy Christmas colors we always see, like the deep reds and emerald greens. Additionally, it’s so easy to find a thoughtful gift here because they have everything organized so well, from the smaller, budget-friendly earrings that still offer that signature Kendra Scott logo, to the more unique seasonal pieces, like the candy cane earrings I spotted last year.

On to the next decor theme! Candyland, pink, and glittery pastels all over. This theme is for the girls, and I am so here for it.

The Pink Christmas decor aisle.

This theme is overwhelmingly bright, dominated by various shades of pink and pastels, making it an immediate focal point that captures the joyful, slightly over-the-top holiday spirit I love. I saw lots of good gift ideas in this section, too. There was a pink snowman water bottle, candles, and mugs. Also, right across the aisle was Amber’s famous ornament wall.

The infamous Amber Marie ornament wall 2025.

The wall did not disappoint this year! I got a bluebird ornament for my mom. It feels like the wall grows every year, and who can be upset about that?

To conclude, the experience of a Christmas at Amber Marie Tulsa is unmatched; it truly feels like the best way to celebrate the season. The store's atmosphere was electric, absolutely filled with holiday spirit. What I value most is Amber Marie's unique skill in honoring cherished traditions while simultaneously introducing fresh, contemporary trends. This careful balance ensures that every visit delivers both nostalgia and new trends, making the holiday shopping experience both timeless and modern.

On the way out of the boutique, I stopped at the exclusive Yale location’s photo booth. Bye-bye, Amber Marie Christmas decor, see you next year!
