Sarah Whipple is the founder and leader of the Jenks Latin Club. Whipple pours an immense amount of work into the club, carving out time to ensure students feel accepted, respected, and safe. She teaches her students to be strong, but more importantly, she teaches them not to be afraid to feel emotion, making sure there's an open seat for anyone who walks through the door.

“Anyone! The more, the merrier!” said Whipple.

Whipple tries her best to make it an inviting, calm, engaging, and loving environment. Working to help her students to make friends and form bonds through Latin club. She makes jokes and plays movies to make a fun, chill environment.

She personally selects movies she knows will bring her students joy, and goes out of her way to provide them with snacks or little treats, anything to see them smile. Whipple continues to go above and beyond for her students, to try to make them feel safe and included, forming a positive and supportive academic environment where students can laugh and express their feelings without fear of backlash or judgment. She makes Latin Club a place where you can be yourself, and in doing so, she sets an amazing example for her students.

“It’s ok not to be okay,” said Madeleine, one of Whipple’s students and head member of Latin Club.
