Jenks High School has a rich history, especially in football. The Oklahoma powerhouse is home to 18 State Championships. The dominance of this scale was built by legendary coaching, from the founder of the standard R. Perry Beaver to the legendary Allan Trimble, and then the bridge Keith Riggs. 

When Addy Gaylor walks into a pep rally, the energy shifts. As the first female president of Jenks High School’s school spirit organization Superfans, her goal isn’t just to be the one to start chants and dress up for themes. She wants to lead by example, and show what it means to lead with spirit, humility, and purpose.

New year, new team, new chemistry, new opportunities, fresh start. This 25-26 season, the Trojans are looking for the ultimate accomplishment: Winning State. After a stretch of increasingly better years, the Trojans are looking to finally get to the holy grail, and prove their dominance in the state.

On Friday, September 25th, blinding lights will illuminate the field, and cheers will erupt from the stands as the Jenks Trojans step onto the field, ready to take on who most say is their biggest rival: the Bixby Spartans. The yearly ritual of a brutal battle on-field occurs this time with both teams nationally ranked: Jenks ranked #25 and Bixby ranked #2, according to on3.com’s rankings.

With modern media like Twitch and YouTube, gameplays have become one of the biggest trends that have only continued to grow in the last decade, especially post-COVID. People our age are getting their first good gaming set-ups and deciding to stream Fortnite or their hardcore Minecraft world, hoping to make it big. However, they have no idea that they could start making it big with their gaming at school.

The Jenks Trojans have been a powerhouse in Oklahoma football since the 90s, and have no plans of being out of contention for the state title. They have seen many rivalries, coaches, and athletes over the years, but their standard of excellence has remained the same.

First Look Into A Jenks Baseball Practice

January marks the start of a new year. It marks the start of new resolutions. It also marks the start of a widely favored sport’s event. January is the time to crown a new National Champion during the College Football Playoffs (CFP). Each year a set of teams are picked to fight against each other for the overall win. Like most sports, there are favored teams that are expected to be the best of the best each year. What would happen if one of those teams didn't qualify for the largest event of the year? For teams like Alabama, they had to learn the hard way and for an individual like myself, I disagree with the outcome of their CFP ruling. 

The National Basketball Association, better known as the NBA, has been around since 1949 with a merger of two basketball leagues that were established only three years prior, according to this link. The NBA was something new and exciting to the usual baseball and football games that played on TV. It grew to popularity during the late 70s and early 80s.

Being a Student-Athlete is exhausting. We are expected to give hours each day to our sports, which includes multiple hours before and after school. It doesn’t help going to Jenks where the word ‘excellence’ is around everywhere makes us feel the pressure of being the best in the state on the field and in the classroom. On top of that when we get to our sport we have a coach yelling at us and demanding that we do it this way instead of that way. However, in the moment we might not realize how much our coaches actually do.

Wrestling has been a sport for centuries, but girls wrestling has just recently become a highschool sport. Though it’s only been incorporated into Jenks for the past few years, girls wrestling as a whole has skyrocketed in popularity. 

The NFL is a cut throat, highly competitive organization within the football realm. Any football player's dream is to eventually make it to the NFL. The dream of going pro. That goal requires incredible work ethic, motivation and preparation. These same goals align with dancers that soon hope to make it to the NFL as well…just on the sidelines. The beauty and heart of the football teams, engaging halftime performances and public appearances. The NFL cheerleaders. Throughout this review, I will be ranking the Top 5 NFL Cheerleading teams and cracking down on a concise list of criteria. I will be ranking them based on their practice schedules, tryout processes, field performances and outside engagement with the public. I am a highly qualified professional myself (Jenks Varsity Pom dancer), so you can trust my opinion as I say I am more than cut out to be ranking these teams. So, let’s jump right in.

For the past 4 years, Jenks Varsity Pom has competed at the OSSAA State gameday competition. OSSAA stands for Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association, and most Jenks sports attend and compete at OSSAA competitions.  With a gold in 2023 and 2024. 

It's the most popular sport in the world. With over 3.5 billion people in the fan base, its ability to unite countries and people shows the power the sport holds not only for the fans, but for the players as well. For the people who watch the sport- it can inspire them more than you would ever believe. For the people who play the sport- it can absolutely transform their lives. Turning a hopeless dream of getting into an amazing school into reality. This reality belongs to Ragon Francy, who committed to West Point when she was a junior in highschool. 

Pickleball has become a national phenomenon recently, and a favorite sport for so many people in the Jenks community. Nevertheless, there are many misconceptions about the sport, so here are some of the basics.

A typical high school Athletic Director is in charge of all sports at their high school, however ours here at Jenks has a widely known secret, he also is an NFL Ref. His name is Clay Martin, he takes on the responsibility of managing both one of the state's best districts for athletics and managing NFL games each week. 

Imagine this: You walk into a bowling alley expecting to be able to bowl, but instead, you see all the lanes filled with kids in different types of collared shirts, filling in the lanes from end to end. Behind them, all types of supporters take up the tables and counters, along with tall foldable chairs. The attendance person kindly tells you that for today, they are closed and will be until 4.

If you think cheerleading is all sideline chants and sparkly uniforms, you would be highly mistaken. Cheer might’ve started out that way, but it has quickly changed to something vastly different. The world of cheer has evolved from fun filled cheering on the sidelines to a world of intricate routines, stunts, dances, and most importantly, injuries. 

Jenks women's basketball has struggled for over a decade, with some seasons ending with only 4 wins.Last year the team ended with their best record since 2011, with a win total of 15 games. With former Jenks guard Jill Twiehaus committing to Rice University there is going to be hole ware the team has to fill for this coming season, but  assistant coach Amanda Taylor this shouldn’t be a problem. 

Jenks Softball has been around for years providing players with experience and happy memories. And the biggest thing about Jenks softball? They step up to the plate and bring grit and excellence to bat.
